MRS JONES began as a small, independent art shop and gallery, situated just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Shrewsbury.

In September 2024, we moved online and have just relaunched our online art shop and opened our first biannual art competition.

Our Backstory

​

In 2011, in the capacity of Artistic Director, Faye embarked on a project of regeneration through the arts in a Shropshire market town with Carpenter Peter Vidal of Vidal & Company - which saw a 17th century tavern and disused car show room transformed into an art gallery, café and artisan studios. Ten years on, in 2022, Faye went on to open MRS JONES Art Shop and Gallery in Shrewsbury, UK.

 

MRS JONES is named in celebration of her mother-in-law Elizabeth Taylor/Jones, who always dreamt of being an artist. However, working from the age of sixteen to support her family, followed by marriage and motherhood meant that her artistic vocation got put to one side. It wasn't until the age of sixty-eight that Mrs.Jones finally got the chance to embrace the painting career she had always dreamed of.​

MRS JONES is a reminder to nurture the things that sustain our creative spirit, when we can.
